The Duchess of Cambridge is renowned for her frugal ways when it comes to fashion but it seems her eye for a bargain applies to Christmas presents as well.
Shoppers were sent into a frenzy on December 11 when Kate and her husband Prince William were spotted browsing the aisles in budget-friendly chain Wilko, near their home in Kensington, London.
However, as the pair stuffed their baskets with oversized teddy bears, a home brewery kit and glittery festive decorations, all was not quite as it seemed.

Shoppers were sent into a frenzy on December 11 when Kate and William lookalikes were spotted browsing the aisles in budget-friendly chain Wilko in Kensington, London
Doppelgangers Simon Watkinson and Heidi Aga were seen looking at a Wonder Woman gift set and a puppy calendar, amongst other items
The pair stuffed their baskets full of silver and gold-coloured baubles and glittery festive decorations
It wasn't actually the royal couple grabbing last-minute gifts for their children Princess Charlotte and Prince George but professional lookalikes Simon Watkinson, 33, and Heidi Aga, 34.
The doppelgangers ensured they looked the part for their festive shopping spree with Mr Watkinson donning a pair of tan-coloured chinos, a navy sweater and a cornflour blue shirt.
Meanwhile, Ms Aga channelled Kate's style in a bright red dress with tartan detailing at the back and navy heels.

'The truth is, of course, that it wasn't actually the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, but the UK's most popular Kate and Wills lookalikes. The effect their visit had was no less dramatic though.'

Clearly getting into character, the lookalikes were spotted buying Santa dog costumes for The Queen's corgis and crackers to add a bit of festive sparkle to the palace's Christmas table on December 25th.
They also apparently nabbed a cake stand - presumably for Her Majesty's afternoon tea - as well as a home brewery kit for Prince Harry.

Meanwhile, the real Duchess of Cambridge was spotted scouring the high street in Chelsea on Friday for some last-minute gifts.
Wrapping up in her favourite houndstooth coat and a pair of stylish black boots, Kate, 33, battled with fellow shoppers in department store Peter Jones, a branch of John Lewis.
She emerged with a carrier bag and a check tablecloth tucked under one arm.
The Cambridges are preparing to spend their first Christmas as a family of four after the birth of Princess Charlotte in May.
As with last year, they will attend the traditional Christmas Day church service at St Mary Magdalene Church with the rest of the Royal Family, but are then expected to return to their Norfolk mansion for a dinner with the Middletons rather than join the Queen at Sandringham House.
It appeared to be a successful shopping trip as the pair left the store with bags crammed with items
